The Village Panel, which measures 3m x 1m, is made up of over 130 separate pieces of embroidery. The intricate design incorporates churches, public houses and examples of Sunbury's fine domestic architecture all set adjacent to The River Thames which occupies a central position.
Towards the top of the panel, a number of scenes depict the open spaces, such as Sunbury Park and the Walled Garden, and sporting activities, including rugby and cricket for which Sunbury is renowned. The parkland, open spaces and riverside location of Sunbury provide a rich and varied environment for animal and plant life. This is represented by the many embroideries of birds, mammals, flowers and trees which are placed throughout the panel.
