Creative Prompt

In this piece of work shape is important. Try and design a shape poem. Also called ‘concrete poetry’ this is when words relating to a chosen subject are written into a shape which connects to it.

For example, a poem about flying written in the shape of an aeroplane or writing about fruit in the shape of a banana.

The look of the poem is as important as the words because it instantly shows the reader what the poem is about.

It can be fun to fit words into a shape like this. You might also write BIG BOLD words in capitals or small, tiny words like this.

Remember that every decision you make reflects the message you are trying to convey.
